What are the different types of heat rash?


Ever faced rash all over your body during summer months? Well, this condition is known as heat rash, which develops when the pores get blocked and sweat fails to escape. Heat rash occurs due to friction on the skin’s surface, especially on the body parts that rub together like- underarms and inner thighs. Heat rashes range in severity, and they are of different types.

Miliaria Crystallina

This is the mildest form of heat rash and is quite common, as well. In this case, you are going to notice tint white bumps with fluids on the skin’s surface. These white bumps are sweats and do not itch. Sometimes, the bumps burst open, but they are not painful. It mostly occurs in infants than in adults.

Miliaria Rubra

Also known as prickly heat is very common in adults. It causes more discomfort than crystallina as it develops in the epidermis or in the deeper layers of the skin. It basically occurs in the hot or humid weather and leads to the formation of red bumps on the skin, itchy sensation, soreness or inflammation in skin’s surface and lack of perspiration in the affected spot. Sometimes, the bumps get fills with pus, which requires medical attention.

Miliaria Profunda

This type of heat rash often recur and become chronic in nature. It occurs in the dermis, the deepest layer of skin. People who are more into physical activity that excretes sweat are more prone to develop miliaria profunda. Large, flesh-colored bumps are noticed in this case.
