What is Cancer?
Cancer is a collection of diseases which occurs due to the abnormal and uncontrolled growth of cells in your body. The incidental cell growth results attack other normal cells in the vicinity resulting in their destruction. The cancerous cells break down in an uncontrollably leading to the formation of tissue masses or lumps, known as tumors. The tumors have an impact on the portions of your body, where they grow and interrupt the natural functioning. The cancerous cells pass to the different portions of your body via lymph or blood, increasing the damage of cells.
Types of Cancer
The various types of cancers are being named according to the body part where they occur. Cancer is mainly divided into five kinds. They are:
1. Carcinoma: It stems on the skin or in the tissues covering the internal organs.
2. Sarcoma: It originates in the fat muscles, bones, blood vessels or cartilage.
3. Leukemia: It occurs in the blood-forming tissues, like bone marrow. It goes inside the bloodstream and transfers to every part of your body.
4. Lymphoma/Myeloma: It initiates in the immune system.
5. Central nervous system cancer: It occurs in brain cells and spinal cord.
Cancer treatment depends on the type and stage of cancer. The growing medical advancement has resulted in several innovative kinds of targeted therapies for a particular type of cancer.
