Know the Symptoms and Causes of Colon Polyps

Forming on the sides of the colon, colon polyps are basically just a cluster of cells. Though most of these clusters are harmless in nature, some might take the form of colon cancer which gets mainly detected at the later stage. If anybody has a family history of having colon cancer or is a chain-smoker, they are most likely to develop this over time.

Symptoms of colon polyps

Colon polyps can only be found on an examination done on your bowels. The signs of polyps include:
1. Rectal bleeding - This can be an acute sign of colon polyps, or in some cases, might be due to hemorrhoids or fissures in the anus.
2. Color change in stool - If you see blood passing in your stool and it becoming reddish or blackish in color, seek medical help as fast as possible.
3. A significant change in bowel habit - Signs of constipation or diarrhoea lasting for than a week signifies an occurrence of colon cancer.
4. Intense pain - Colon cancer might give rise to a horrific pain in your abdominal part.
5. Iron deficiency anemia - Passing of blood from your stools will create chronic anaemia in your body.

Causes of colon polyps

Polyps form in the large intestine. Undefined mutation leads to the growth of new cells at a particular time when new cells are not needed. This new group forms the clumps and paves way for cancer. There are mainly two types of polyps - neoplastic and non-neoplastic.

Non-neoplastic polyps consist of inflammatory polyps, hamartomatous polyps and hyperplastic polyps. Most of the time, these do not contain cancerous germs. Neoplastic polyps consist of serrated and adenomas types. The neoplastic polyps are larger in size and bear a greater risk of turning into cancer.

Colon polyps are quite severe and you need medical assistance from Curedit.
