What are the Treatments for Spider Veins?

There are different treatments available for spider veins. Depending on the location of the spider veins, the patients are advised to follow certain treatment that can ease the pain and discomfort.

Here are some of the treatment options for Spider veins:

? Use of stockings- This is one of the most conservative approaches which you can wear with aptly-fitted support hose. Stockings are worn when the veins start showing uncomfortable signs. You can purchase these any pharmacies or surgical supply store.

? Sclerotherapy- This simple and inexpensive method is one of the oldest treatment options that are available since 1930. In this procedure, a highly concentrated salt solution or a solution made from detergent is directly injected into the vein. This gradually causes veins to disappear between three to six weeks.

? Radiofrequency occlusion- A small catheter is placed into the vein, and it generates radiofrequency energy to the walls of the vein. The heat produced causing the walls to collapse.

? Laser and pulsed light- Laser or light treatments like, PhotoDerm and Vasculight are other treatment options that patients can opt for. Heat energy is used to destroy the abnormal veins. The advantage of this treatment is that no sclerosing solutions or needles are used, but it may produce slight pain. Sometimes, this treatment is accompanied by side effects like blisters, discoloration or staining.

? Endovenous laser treatment- In this procedure, a small laser fiber is positioned inside the vein, and laser lights are delivered, causing the veins to collapse.

? Surgery- Surgical techniques include stripping (removing a long section of the vein) and ligation. Apart from these, ambulatory phlebectomy is also adopted where large surface veins are removed through small incisions.

It is important to seek medical guidance to know which treatment suits you the best. You may also message a specialist at Curedit regarding the same.
