Simple Tricks to Protect Your Ears

Once your hearing is lost, there is no other way around. Henceforth, you should never avoid ear problems and take precautionary measures to protect them.

Here are Some Easy Ways that will Help You to Safeguard Your Ears

* Say ‘No’ to cotton swabs: If you have a habit to clean ear wax out of the canal using swabs, you should immediately stop doing it. Ears cleanse itself, and the wax present prevents dust and particles to enter the canal. Inserting anything inside can put other organs to risk, especially the eardrum.

* Keep ears dry: Accumulation of moisture in ear canal allows bacteria to attack the ear canal. This leads to different types of infections, affecting your hearing ability. Always dry your ear after bathing. You can also use earplugs to prevent water from entering while you are swimming.

* Keep the music volume down: Follow the 60/60 rule if you want to protect your ears from loud noises. Do not choose a volume of over 60% and not more than 60 minutes a day. Choose headphones over earbuds as the latter fits directly to the eardrum.

* Cover your ears around loud noises: Studies suggest that many people suffer from hearing loss due to a loud work environment. Places like clubs and concerts create a dangerous level of noise. Carrying and using earplugs is the convenient way to keep loud sound at bay.

* Go for check-ups: If you face slightest of a problem, it is recommended that you visit a physician. Ask him or her to include hearing screenings so that you can identify the early signs of hearing disability.

An untreated hearing loss affects the quality of your life and is also associated with certain health concerns like, dementia and depression.
